Metal Haus Gallery is honored to present the work of Violet Fields. Her show of paintings entitled, "Violet Fields: The Know How" opens first Friday Oct 1st, 4PM with an additional artist reception Saturday October 16th from 4 to 8PM.

Violet Fields has lived in West Oakland for 70 years. Her father and mother purchased the home where she currently resides in 1946. According to her, they lived lives of "service and goodness" and provided the foundation of what she describes as "The Old Know How": the creative energy and skill to be an artist. She draws on the themes of resilience and service, spirituality and social justice as she continues her 60+ year art practice. In her words, " My work requires that I "free fall" into inspiration and that I allow that inspiration to map out the course of my work. I often arise out of a dream to obey the calls that I hear. I paint feverishly until my "voices" have hushed and the course of a painting has been determined"
