About the Work

Bay-Area based painter, Layla Skramstad enjoys telling a story with the environment and objects within the space. she has always enjoyed taking photos of interiors devoid of people, and sitting in the stillness of them and contemplating what brings that particular space to life. She then attempts to bring that life into the painting itself, through the use of color, composition, and focal objects. she enjoys creating interiors that evoke fairytales, childhood memories, and nostalgia.
