About the Work

Dashe’s artistic practice explores various vehicles for expressing sensations, emotions, and societal tensions. Through abstraction, she creates figures that embody these sensations and places them within environments that challenge conventional narratives, disrupting traditional notions of beauty and emotional composure. A central focus of her work is the exploration of visual politics within gender constructs, especially their evolution in contemporary media. By presenting headless figures, she obscures individual identities, prompting viewers to see bodies as abstract characters and symbols of collective experience. This abstraction transforms the body into a site for dialogue, reflecting societal constraints, power dynamics, and cultural expectations. Her work invites viewers to confront the fluid boundaries between the body and its environment, encouraging reflection on how external forces and visual contexts influence our perception of bodily forms, ultimately provoking a deeper understanding of identity, gender, and the body in a rapidly shifting cultural landscape.
